In a heartwarming display of community spirit and environmental stewardship, the Village Reconstrcution Organisation organised a massive plantation drive at Perecherla on 24^th August, 2024 distributing 10,000 saplings. The event brought together individuals from all walks of life for a singular noble cause: planting the saplings for a greener tomorrow. Mrs. S. Naga Lakshmi I.A.S., the District Collector and District Magistrate of Guntur District graced the event as the chief guest and inaugurated the event by planting the first sapling. During her address, she emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, “Every sapling planted today is a beacon of hope for our environment. It is a pledge we take to ensure that our children inherit a world that is lush and vibrant as the one we have enjoyed.”

The event saw enthusiastic participation from 250 school children, from three different schools. Alongside them, 70 villagers from neighbouring villages and 30 college students joined in, turning the drive into a multi-generational effort in bringing about positive change.

The plantation drive is part of our annual theme “Save Trees” and is more than just an environmental campaign; it’s a testament to the collective will to foster a sustainable relationship with nature. Each sapling planted is a step towards combating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and beautifying the local landscape. It’s a commitment from VRO to take ownership of our environmental impact and work towards a greener planet.

VRO has planned to distribute around 10000 saplings to the willing villagers and encourage them to take care of them as part of our responsibility to “Care for Our Common Home”.
